Generate Scorecard | round-robin & flex ladder
* Flex ladders and Round-Robins are different terms for the same format of play. Various clubs use different terms for their play, which is why we included both.
1. Access the generate scorecard page through the side nav or the generate scorecard icon on the group card.
2. Select the group that is associated with your event.
- Select the event that the players registered for.
- The name, date, start time, and end time of your event will auto-populate.
- If you would like to load a past event, check the box View Past Events and all your past events will be available in the drop-down box.
3. After selecting the event, the users who registered will be imported into the table, eliminating the manual hassle of checking off the participants. If you do not have an event to select, you can generate a scorecard from scratch, starting by entering an event name.
- Select the maximum number of courts available.
- Select the number of players in each group. This dictates how the players will be placed on the courts. Since I have 10 participants, the best format for my ladder is 2 groups of 5 players in each group.
- Use the Custom Selection tool to customize the number of groups and the number of players in each group.
- If the round-robin or flex ladder is competitive, you will want to place the players on the courts based on skill level and include scores in the handicap average.
- Enter the maximum points and how much each team must win by per game.
- Enter the max number of games the players will play.
4. The users that registered for your event will have a checkmark next to their name. Uncheck a player's name if they are a "no show," or if an additional player that did not register attends the event, place a checkmark next to their name.
Above the header, Gender, click the button labeled Group Layout Preview.
5. The Group Layout Preview is exactly that. It provides the admin a visual preview of what the courts will look like before creating them. The admin can also drag and drop a player from one court to another by clicking on the up/down arrow to the right of a player's name, holding down on that arrow, dragging the player to a different position, and releasing.
- Once the players are in the correct positions, you can Save This Setup. This will save all your settings and the player's positions.
- Once the save is completed, click the button labeled Generate Scorecard.
- At the top of the generate scorecard page, the admin can access the saved setup by selecting Previous and selecting the saved setup from the drop-down box.
6. The scorecards have now been created. It is now time to explain the various features and flexibility the scorecard has to offer:
- The admin should Include Scores in Handicap Avg if the round-robin or flex ladder is a competitive event. If the event is social, the admin can choose not to include the scores in the handicap avg.
- Click the actions button to view standings, email the schedule to players, or print scorecards.
- The admin can email the schedule to the players that are listed on the Scorecard. This email will show the players their position on the courts, the players they will be competing against, the start date, and the start time.
- The admin can change the date on each court by selecting the field.
- The admin can change the amount points "played to" and how much each team must win by, per court. Click in each field to edit.
- The admin can view the rotation of players for each game by clicking the button labeled Player Rotation.
- Each player on each court is designated a number next to their name. The number determines the rotation of each player.
- The admin can also print the rotation.
7. Entering the scores is the easiest part. Click in the first empty field below game one, enter the score, and press the tab key on your keyboard.
Percentages automatically calculate in real-time as the admin types in the scores. The percentages are then stored in the Standings table.
If you would like to add more games to a specific scorecard, you can select the + next to the last game.
8. Once all the scores have been entered, select the button labeled View Standings tucked away in the actions button.
